Veary Ngy supports the development of the international alumni community, whose numbers are constantly growing, with a multitude of profiles and countries. She explains how she maintains links with this sprawling network, between remote and on-site services.

Your background?

Having recently graduated from business school, I joined the Alliance Française de Chine in Beijing, as part of the events communication team. Back in Paris, I joined the Union Française de l'Électricité, where I was in charge of organising national events, social network communication and content writing. Developing within associations and uniting a community around common values has always been at the heart of my professional concerns.

The services you offer today?

My focus is based on several themes: logistical and financial support for our 86 chapters, the internationalisation of the career service https://www.essecalumni.com/page/carrieres, the development of our English content (especially on social networks), the promotion of the online directory and the co-organisation of major ESSEC events around the world – such as the recent Gala in Dubai and the #BlackLivesMatter seminar in the United States.

The pandemic has also amplified the need for reconnection and solidarity between alumni across borders. This year, we have therefore deployed a mutual aid mechanism at ESSEC, connected all community leaders at an annual remote seminar, trained the chapters' presidents in digital tools, and given more visibility to their initiatives and events through our communication media.

The services you'll launch tomorrow?

We are going to call on professional coaches from the four corners of the world to support our alumni wherever they are, and whatever their language and professional issues are: job search, taking up a new position, mobility, project management, etc.

ESSEC Alumni's international services comprises...

- 86 chapters

- 8,200 international graduates

- 100 events: get togethers, embassy receptions, study trips, etc.
