Chief executives of major groups, key public interest figures...and 3 Choiseul Sport Business rankings! We take a look at some of the recent appointments in the ESSEC network.
Charles Leung (E95) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Chaumet. He spent the first ten years of his career at Cartier, rising to the position of Retail Director for the Chinese market, before initially joining Chaumet as Managing Director Asia-Pacific, followed by Vice President of worldwide distribution and sales. Prior to this most recent appointment, he was CEO of Fred Jewelry for 5 years.
Karen Noël (E96) has been appointed Managing Director of Partech, a transatlantic capital risk fund specialised in information & communication technologies, with €2.5 billion in outstandings and a portfolio of 220 companies in 40 countries across 4 continents. Also a graduate of Paris II Panthéon-Assas University, she began her career as a lawyer with Moquet Borde & Associés (now Paul Hastings) before joining De Pardieu Brocas Maffei, then Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, and lastly Gide Loyrette Nouel. Prior to this most recent appointment, she was Chief Legal Officer of Partech, and will continue to retain this position.
Florence Deram (E05) has been appointed Financial Director of La Banque des Territoires, an entity of the Caisse des Dépôts Group responsible for supporting and funding local authorities and public companies, social housing bodies, legal professions and other public interest, environmental & energy transition or social cohesion players, with €200 billion in outstanding loans and an investment portfolio of €7bn. She began her career in auditing with EY, where she was chiefly based in Tokyo, prior to joining Suez, with a position in Houston. She subsequently rose to the role of Chief Financial Officer Water France, overseeing a budget of €2bn. She was then made Financial Director of the Corum Butler group, a European asset management firm specialised in high yield credit and real estate, with 250 employees and €6 billion in managed assets.
Nathalie Mercier Perrin (EXEC PROG 07) has been appointed President of the Cluster Maritime Français [French Maritime Cluster] which rallies 460 ocean ecosystem players to promote and foster economic growth, innovation, research and training in the sector, in addition to initiatives for environmental protection and the sustainable use of marine resources. A Knight of the Order of Maritime Merit, she is also involved in several maritime sector organisations (ENSM, Association Technique Maritime et Aéronautique, etc.) and spent almost 25 years with the Naval Group, where she notably guided the transformation of three industrial sites into profit centres for technological research, worked on the creation of Technocampus Ocean (a pooled research platform for naval sectors) and delivered five major R&D projects for signature, co-funded by the French and Italian governments, prior to taking up the position of Director of Economic Development. She was also the Managing Director of ESSEC Alumni.
Sarah Chouraqui (E09) has been appointed Managing Director of Wings of the Ocean, a non-profit group for ocean and coastal protection and member of the NPO Groupe SOS. She began her career with Danone Waters, rising to the position of Financial Director, before becoming Media Managing Director for the Vertical Station social networks. She then turned to impact entrepreneurship on joining the anti-food waste application Too Good to Go as Director for France. She is also President of the steering committee for the Colisée group, which offers housing and care solutions for the elderly.
Alexandra Griffon (E17) features in the Forbes 30 Under 30 North America ranking. She co-founded and manages BlueCargo, a scale-up incubated by the prestigious Y Combinator, and which recently raised $11 million to develop its artificial intelligence solution for container port terminal operators, an innovation set to revolutionise sea freight transport.
3 alumni feature in the 2023 Choiseul Sport Business ranking, which rewards 100 executives under 40 set to play a key role in the sports sector. Congratulations to Jauffray Dunyach (BBA 07), Deputy Managing Director of MyCoach and Innovation in Sport Administrator for Sporsora; Aymeric Labaste (BBA 14), Head of Roland-Garros International Development at the French Tennis Federation (FFT), and Amaury de Lacoste (E07), Head of Ski Area Operations at Labellemontagne.
