With a long experience in the sector, Marli Marchyllie (M10) and Dominique Laboureau reopened l'Atelier du Chalet Aquitain, a shoe manufacturer near Bordeaux.
Their model, which was rewarded by Réseau Entreprendre, is based on industrial know-how, local production, and direct sales to consumers. During the first budgetary year of 18 months, the 11-person SME reached sales of €800,000 and a positive operating result. Its key-product, the Velsket, was launched at the Première Classe fair, with the help of the Au-delà-du-Cuir aid scheme. 'With a double velcro strap on both sides of the shoe, we kiss the shoe lace goodbye, and it's a nod to Marty McFly in Back to the Future.'
