Édouard Quinchon (M09) left his job in a ministerial cabinet to craft standout boots.
'My life changed when I stumbled upon my grandfather's boots while moving. I felt the urge to understand how these outstanding shoes were made.' Mauban was born. 'We go in the Auvergne to find the softest leather in the world. Our shoe lasts are carved in Cholet, and our shoes are assembled in the last independent workshop in the trade.' Such requirements imply that Mauban only makes around a hundred pairs a year, by hand.
A brand for ardent devotees, Mauban now offers, in association with the founders of Blitz Motorcycles, a special boot for bikers: same sole as the one used by the French SAS, double-tanned leather from Alsace. Next step? 'Singapore.'
