Ukraine: ESSEC Alumni and ESSEC Business School Raise Funds for UNHCR
A message from Olivier Cantet (E87), ESSEC Alumni President, and Vincenzo Vinzi, Dean & President, ESSEC Business School:
The war in Ukraine challenges the values of freedom and peace that have shaped Europe for over 75 years. On behalf of the ESSEC community, we express our profound sorrow, but also our determination to come together in support of the victims of this war.
Our first priority was to get in touch with our students, graduates, and colleagues from Ukraine, to prevent them from feeling isolated and to give them a way to stay informed about the situation on the ground. To do so, we created a Whatsapp group, ESSEC Alumni Ukraine. This group is a place for discussion and support between the ESSEC community in Ukraine and in neighboring countries. To join it, you can contact Veary Ngy, the ESSEC Alumni international community manager, by email: veary.ngy@essec.edu.
Since we know that this crisis has generated a great deal of stress and emotion for many, ESSEC Alumni association has asked its coaches to offer psychological support to those in need. Boris Haguenauer (E98), clinical psychologist and coach, is at your disposal. To request his assistance, you can contact Elisabeth Dos Anjos at elisabeth.dosanjos@essec.edu.
Faced with the urgency and the seriousness of the situation, we are prepared to further support organizations that already have a solid understanding of the local situation.
Today, ESSEC Business School and ESSEC Alumni are uniting to help displaced people from Ukraine and to raise money for UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
ESSEC will double your donations up to €50 000, to be used to help displaced people in Ukraine and in the neighboring countries.
Gaëlle Devoucoux (E09), Manager of Private Partnerships at UNHCR France, says: “In only 10-12 days, we have witnessed the exodus of two million refugees from Ukraine to neighboring countries. This is a major humanitarian crisis. Needs in the region are increasing: for protection, shelter, and emergency assistance. I’m proud to be part of the ESSEC community, a supportive one that assists causes close to its heart. Today, more than ever, let’s support the efforts of the UNHCR to protect those affected by this crisis. Thank you so much.”
We are counting on your generosity to support the Ukrainian refugees. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely.
