Robot Accountants, Artificial Milk, Sustainable Products… ESSEC Entrepreneurs Are in Demand

From foodtech to proptech: ESSEC entrepreneurs are raising funds in every sector of the new economy!

Co-founded by Côme Fouques (E12) and Adrien Plat (BBA08), Indy raised €35m for its automatic accounting app that has already proven a hit with 40,000 very small businesses and freelancers. The French start-up will now be able to hire 100 employees in an effort to hit 100,000 users by 2022, and conquer the American market.

Co-founded by Fengru Lin (B20) and Max Rye (B20), TurtleTree Labs raised $6.2m to produce cow’s milk in a lab without having to touch an udder, thanks to a revolutionary cell reproduction technique. The Singapore-based start-up, which has far exceeded its initial targets, will now be able to accelerate its research and launch production, which will target the infant and senior nutrition markets as a priority.

Launched by Guillaume Luscan (E17), Cajoo is an on-demand grocery delivery service that has raised a €6m seed fund. The start-up plans to increase its number of city centre mini-warehouses, so that it can guarantee all of its deliveries within 15 minutes. 

Co-founded by Olivier van den Broek (E10) and Louis Duclert (E11), Iroko, the straightforward and accessible online property investment company, raised €3m to become the sector’s champion in Europe. Its strategy is to focus on transparent management and high-performance products, not only in terms of finances, but also environmental and social standards, in an effort to win over asset management professionals, corporate investors, and life-insurance providers. The start-up aims to collect over €100m in investments.

Founded by Saskia Fiszel (E14), Virgil, the solution that facilitates access to property through joint investments with young professionals, raised €3m, following an initial round of €2.1m in 2019. The next stage in its development is to add corporate investors to its platform, and increase the files handled every year from 20 to 100.

Founded by Philippe Cantet (E95), Spring raised €2.1m to launch a new range of detergent and cleaning products that take better care of the planet and our health, thanks to clean formulae and 100% plastic-free packaging.

Launched by Guillaume Debaig (E92), Gleeph raised €2m to grow its platform of 250,000 readers who can share their thoughts on what they’re reading and check the availability of the books they want to read next. Its target? Reach one million users, release an English and Spanish version, and sell its services to publishers and retailers.

Founded by Matthieu Bimbenet (M00), the brand 727 Sailbags, which makes bags, clothing, and décor from recycled sails, raised €1m to expand its sales network. “We have four stores in Lorient, Vannes, La Baule and Cannes, and we’d like to open at least one more every year in France or abroad. We have opened our first international store in Annapolis, in the state of Maryland”.
