Every year, ESSEC brings together the graduating classes from all of its programs for their graduation ceremony. It is a momentous occasion for the next generation, with speeches from distinguished alumni. Let’s take a look back at the event in pictures.
In total, around 2,000 students and participants receive their qualification for completing one of ESSEC Group’s courses: Grande École, Global BBA, Masters/Advanced Masters (MS), Global MBA, PhD and Executive Education programmes.
Commencement Day is an opportunity for everyone to get together for a big celebration on campus, accompanied by their families and ESSEC management and teaching staff, with outstanding alumni in attendance to inspire them as they begin their careers.
Aurore Humez Leray (M03), founder of L’Armoire à Beauté, advised her Master’s alumni never to rest on their laurels. “We know your mind is well formed and well filled, and within 6 months you will become perfectly fit in your job. Therefore, don’t be scared to try new things. Be the one that challenges the present, the one that refuses the wait-and-see situation in which some companies lie.”
Hélène Boulet-Supau (E88), entrepreneur, gave precious advice to the Grande École’s new graduates. “You are here, meaning you’ve received a lot. Now learn to give, give time, give money once you have some, give a hand, give smiles. It feels good to give, it increases our feeling to be socially useful. And most of all, it is a crucial social bond.”Further tips from Bertrand Thomas (E94), co-founder of Caudalie, who addressed the Grande École’s new graduates as well : “The greatest achievement is the right balance between your personal and your professional life.”Harold Parisot (C00), cofounder of the Chinese Business Club, shared a strong lesson in optimism with our BBA: “Do not worry about the future, take charge! As Confucius said ‘Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life’!”Emmanuelle Hipeau (I08), Chief Talent Officer at Publicis Communication France, greeted the new graduates of the Global MBA: “You are today’s and tomorrow’s leaders.”
A number of students and participants who were about to graduate also gave speeches: Anjali Céline Shenoy (C19), Amélie Perrault (E18), Sumesh Lund (E18), Lucia Casagranda (E18), Élise Prigent (C19), Gaëtan Belan (E18) et Namia Benmansour-Herpin (G19), who all spoke about ambition and the future.
Félix Papier, Director of Pre-Career Programmes at ESSEC, carried a message of freedom: “It is up to you to shape your career, to follow your passion and to use your talent at its best.”
Hugues Levecq, Director of the Global BBA, called for responsibility of each of us “Human beings are of high importance and should be your main concern.”
Thomas Jeanjean, Deputy Director of Pre-Career Programmes at ESSEC, reminded us that it is no farewell, only goodbye “ESSEC is your home for life. This School brings us together to form a family”.
This idea was also shared by Stéphanie Jossermoz (E94), Managing Director of ESSEC Alumni, and Laëtitia de Chabot, Executive Director of the ESSEC Foundation.
Vincenzo Esposito Vinzi, Dean and President of ESSEC Group, concluded with these words: “We’re gathered here together tonight, not to say “goodbye,” but to wish each other well in our future endeavors.”
